Supporting the Duchess of Kent House Charity

The Lions Club of Reading has donated a special urine testing machine to Duchess of Kent House. This is the second urine analyser that has been given to the hospice this year, transforming the way in which urine tests take place.

Storm Cooper, Day Therapy Sister at Duchess of Kent House said "The urine analysers have been fantastic. The traditional method of testing urine was time consuming and tricky; different timings were needed to test for different ailments and then a detailed report written up. Now the machine does it all for us, accurately and provides a print out of the results without taking up valuable staff time.

Eric Warner, President of the Reading Lions Club visited Duchess of Kent House last week to see the machine, and said "Two of our members have recently been cared for at the hospice and we felt we would like to make a donation in appreciation for all that has been done for them. The analyser was the perfect choice as not only is it benefiting the patients, but it has helped the staff to do their job too."

George Solly, the Director of Fundraising at Duchess of Kent House Charity said: "I can't thank the Lions enough for their continued support of the Charity and the unit. Earlier this year Goring, Woodcote & District Lions Club donated a similar machine and the staff were so impressed they requested a second one. The donation of nearly 700 from the Reading Lions enabled us to make this possible."
